    Robert Falcon Scott was a polar explorer and one of the first discoverers of the South Pole.

    He was born in in Plymouth, England, into a family with a long maritime heritage. Scott was the third child and first son of John Edward and Hannah Scott.

    At the age of 13, Scott entered the Royal Navy as a cadet and his entire life became intertwined with his service in the British Royal Navy.
