Clayton Kershaw, Dodgers agree to extension worth $93 million
Clayton Kershaw will stay in the same zip code.
He agreed Friday to an extension that gives him a three-year, $93 million contract that will keep him with the Los Angeles Dodgers through 2021.
Kershaw had two years and about $65 million left on the extension he signed in August 2013, and had an opt-out clause for this off-season.
The new extension includes bonuses.
A three-time Cy Young winner (2011, 2013 and 2014), the left-hander also was the National League MVP in 2014, going 21-3 with a 1.77 ERA.
He's finished in the top five in Cy Young voting every year since 2011.

The Dodgers selected Kershaw seventh overall in the 2006 draft and he debuted in the majors at age 20 in 2008.
The 30-year-old has dealt with injuries in recent years, starting 74 games over the past three seasons.
Still, his ERA was an outstanding 2.26 over that span.
